Guillotine Glass or Sliding Glass?
Guillotine glass and sliding glass do not meet the same need in the same way. Both close off a space transparently, but the direction in which the glass moves, the way it opens and the user experience are different. The right choice depends on the façade dimensions, access needs, intended use and project conditions.
How does guillotine glass work?
Guillotine Glass Systems are systems in which two or three horizontal glass panels move vertically up and down by motor. They are operated by remote control. Depending on the project, chain or belt mechanisms and classic or easy-clean versions can be considered.
How does sliding glass work?
Sliding Glass Systems are systems in which glass panels move left and right on horizontal tracks. When opened, the panels stack behind one another. Two-, three-, four-, five- or six-track layouts can be planned according to project needs.
Key differences
- Guillotine glass moves vertically and is motorised.
- Sliding glass moves horizontally and is operated manually.
- With guillotine glass, the horizontal panels are positioned up and down.
- With sliding glass, the panels open sideways and stack on top of each other.
- For both systems, glass, profile, colour and dimensions are determined per project.
Where are they used?
They can be used in cafés, restaurants, hotels, villas, terraces, balconies, gardens, wedding venues and commercial spaces. The system should not be chosen by the type of space alone, but according to façade width, height, opening direction and how the space is used.
